The Eureka City Council convened in regular session at the Woodford County Court House Annex on November 20, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. Mayor Scott Punke called the meeting to order and led The Pledge of Allegiance and then directed the City Clerk to call the roll. Present were Aldermen Chambliss, Waters, Meares, Hangartner, Weidner, Hinnen, V. Punke, and Eckert. Also in attendance were Lynn Hinnen, Treasurer; Marilyn Walter, City Clerk; and Anne Sandvik, Acting City Administrator.
Moved by Chambliss, second by Hinnen, to approve the minutes of the November 6, 2006, regular meeting of the City Council. Passed on roll call vote with Chambliss, Hinnen, Waters, Meares, Hangartner, Weidner, V. Punke, and Eckert all voting Aye.
The Mayor asked for public comments on any action to be taken on Agenda items. There were none.
Moved by Weidner, second by Meares, to approve and pay the bills as the City’s obligation in the amount of $29,812.71. Passed on roll call vote with Weidner, Meares, Chambliss, Waters, Hangartner, Hinnen, V. Punke, and Eckert all voting Aye
Moved by Hinnen, second by Weidner, to accept the Treasurer’s Report as presented for the month ending October 31, 2006. Passed on roll call vote with Hinnen, Weidner, Chambliss, Waters, Meares, Hangartner, V. Punke, and Eckert all voting Aye.
Moved by Meares, second by V. Punke, to refund health care premiums paid prior to October 31, 2006, to the non-bargaining unit employees covered under our current insurance plan. This will equalize the health care cost from May 1 through October 31, 2006, with those employees covered by the Local Labor Union 996 contract. Passed on roll call vote with Meares, V. Punke, Chambliss, Waters, Hangartner, Weidner, Hinnen, and Eckert all voting Aye.
Committee Reports:
Chairman Chambliss of the Budget Committee: The next meeting is November 21 at 6:30 p.m. Chambliss asked aldermen to begin plans for next year’s budget.
Chairman Weidner of the Enterprise Committee: Jim Lehman noted that the new truck came today and that leaf pickup concludes November 21. Mayor Punke has had inquiries concerning the curbing reduction on Eureka Street when the street was overlaid. Jim reported that this has happened on other streets and causes no problem.
Chairman Waters of the Public Safety Committee: The next meeting is November 21 at 5:45 p.m..
Chairman Eckert of the Park and Recreation Committee: The Park District Initiative Committee met. Two elected officials each from Goodfield and Congerville. Tiera Darnell is the chair of the citizen committee. The next meeting will be January 9, 2007.
