MINUTES OF THE EUREKA CITY COUNCIL MEETING
January 2, 2007

The Eureka City Council convened in regular session at the City Building on January 2, 2007, at 7:30 p.m. Mayor Scott Punke called the meeting to order and led The Pledge of Allegiance and then directed the City Clerk to call the roll. Present were Aldermen Hangartner, Weidner, Hinnen, V. Punke, Chambliss, Waters, and Meares. Alderman Eckert was absent. Also in attendance were Lynn Hinnen, Treasurer; Marilyn Walter, City Clerk; and Anne Sandvik, Acting City Administrator.

Moved by Hinnen, second by Chambliss, to approve the minutes of the December 18, 2006, regular meeting of the City Council. Passed on roll call vote with Hinnen, Chambliss, Hangartner, Weidner, V. Punke, Waters, and Meares all voting Aye.

The Mayor asked for public comments on any action to be taken on Agenda items. There were none.

Moved by Weidner, second by V. Punke, to approve and pay the bills as the City’s obligation in the amount of $243,880.83. Meares stated that the Maintenance total will to be reduced by $150 since the Union Contract does not include reimbursing the employees $25 per month for their personal cell phone as had been the practice. Pete, Terry, and Todd can only be reimbursed for October which was before the contract was signed, but not for November and December. Mayor Punke read the letter he will be sending to the Union administrator explaining the situation and stating that we will be reimbursing the $25 per month beginning with November 2006 with permission from the Union. Anne will be talking to the employees tomorrow. Meares amended Weidner’s motion to change the total amount to $243,730.83 that is to be paid. Weidner seconded. Passed on roll call vote with Meares, Weidner, Hangartner, Hinnen, V. Punke, Chambliss, and Waters all voting Aye. The original motion was passed on roll call vote with Weidner, V. Punke, Hangartner, Hinnen, Chambliss, Waters, and Meares all voting Aye. This vote was incorrect since we won’t be paying the amount in the original motion. Chambliss moved, second by Meares, to rescind the original motion. Passed on roll call vote with Chambliss, Meares, Hangartner, Weidner, Hinnen, V. Punke, and Waters all voting Aye.

Moved by Hinnen, second by Hangartner, to approve the Mayor’s Proclamation P-06-06 proclaiming January as Autism Awareness Month in Eureka. Passed on roll call vote with Hinnen, Hangartner, Weidner, V. Punke, Chambliss, Waters, and Meares all voting Aye.
