Minutes for January 20, 2005
The January meeting was held at Maple Lawn Homes with 16 in attendance. The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m. The names of the new officers were announced. Minutes for the last meeting were reviewed and accepted. Eldon LiaBraaten reported a Treasury balance of $8416.60.

City: Mayor Siscoe discussed new brochures that will highlight the city. She reported that the sale of bonds for water repairs has been stopped, and no work will be done for repairs this year. They are trying to get $900,000 in grants for the project.

Old Business: Posters and order sheets for the brick pavers were passed out for EBA members to put in their businesses. About 100 pavers have been sold, and the plaza can hold around 1,500 pavers. They hope to start laying the pavers in the spring.

New Business: Eldon reported that he will present the changes to the by-laws at the next board meeting and at the EBA meeting in February. There will be a Business After-Hours on February 17, from 5:00-6:30 at Eureka Community Bank. Mika's will be providing food. All EBA members are encouraged to attend.

Brief Business Updates: Christy announced that Images: 126 has a new acne light and are offering spray tanning (they now have 8 beds and 1 spray unit). They will be giving free leg tanning sprays the second week of February.

II III Committee Reports:

, Community Calendar -

Committee members include: Christy Casey(Chairman), Mary McSweeney, Dawn Maloney and Chris Milliman. Christy handed out

calendar information for the months of February through May and asked for help filling in community happenings. She expressed a desire to change the focus of the project from "Businesses in the Community" to "Community of Businesses" to encourage all Eureka businesses to get involved. She also discussed several ideas that they would like to see implemented, such as: a Business Calendar for EBA Members, E-mail alerts for promotions/colors, an EBA booth at the Lilac Festival and new EBA stickers with the current year on them for members. Christy made a motion to purchase two plants ($50 value) to be given away in a drawing at the Lilac Festival; Eldon seconded. Vouchers for the drawing will be given to customers making a purchase at the sidewalk sales April 29th and to the artists participating in the festival in a welcome packet. All vouchers will be collected at the EBA booth. Eldon volunteered to make 'Go Hornets' banners for EBA members to display in their windows free of charge. Donna Sweeney will distribute to members so the can be put up for the month of February.

The July meeting was held at Maple Lawn Homes with 9 in attendance. The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m. The minutes for the last meeting were accepted for filing.

Committee Reports:

Taste of Eureka - Vada Schertz reported that there are 25 businesses participating, and six of those businesses are participating for the first time this year. There will be a balloon at each participating business to help them stand out as Taste of Eureka participants.

Reagan Fest - Donna Sweeney showed the new COLORED posters for the Reagan Fest. The city donated $500.00 to the festival. The Reagan coloring contest is new this year, and the city is donating the cash prizes. The booth spaces for food, crafts, etc. are about full. Some new food additions are snow cones, cotton candy and lemonade shake-ups.

Circus - Patty Pierson reported that the tickets have been distributed to sell at area businesses. Businesses selling tickets include: Hair Improvements, Curves, Lee's Hallmark, Goodfield State Bank, Eureka Community Bank, Heartland Bank (Main), and Heartland Bank (IGA). It will be held at the same place (behind Casey's) as it was the last time.

City: Lynette Ruder reported that work is being done at Westside Business Park. The liquor ordinance was postponed at the last meeting. The ad has been approved to advertise for a new City Administrator. The new lot across from the City Building is ready for parking. Notices went out to area businesses for donations for the skateboard park.

Old Business: The picture for the banners has been submitted and it will be 30 to 60 days for production.

EBA meetings are held at Maple Lawn Homes on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 8:00 am - finishing promptly at 9:00. All business owners or managers in Eureka are urged to attend. Please join us for coffee and the meeting. If you cannot attend yourself, please designate a representative of your business to attend each month.
