The March meeting was held at Maple Lawn Homes with 9 in attendance. The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m. PLEASE NOTE: New change in procedure - the president does not need to ask for a motion to accept or second the approval of the minutes for the last meeting. If no changes are needed, they are accepted for filing. The minutes for the last meeting were accepted for filing. Eldon LiaBraaten reported a Treasury balance of $8117.86.
Committee Reports:
Brighten our Businesses - Vada Schertz reported the EBA planted 33 flowerpots. We had 22 businesses participate and 7 volunteers helped with the planting.
4th of July - Bryant Ruder volunteered to coordinate the event and mailings have been sent out. He does need someone to volunteer to drive the Uncle Same truck and to be in charge of an EBA float.
City: Lynette Ruder reported that there will be a communications committee set up in June. Jim Mears will be the chairperson for the committee. Mayor Scott Punke will head up the liquor ordinance committee. The bond grant for $1.4 million has passed.
Old Business: John Green met with Andy Lankton to discuss the status of the Welcome to Eureka signs at the edges of town. They are still being worked on at this time. John will follow-up on this matter. Eldon LiaBraaten reported that the EBA has been approved as a non-profit organization. Andy Lankton will file the appropriate paperwork at the courthouse. Patty and Harlan Pierson of Hair Improvements will be the chairpersons for the circus. It will be held Saturday, September 3rd. Donna Sweeney asked for businesses to host Business After Hours. Eastside Barber Shop, Country Companies (Mark Scott), and Eureka Hospital (Ann Liable) volunteered to take turns hosting the meetings at their place of business;
New Business: There was a brief discussion on changing the dues statement to match the EBA fiscal year as stated in the by-laws. In order to align the two, businesses will be given the option of paying for the rest of the calendar year 2005 (June 2005 - December 2005) at $25, or to pay for the rest of this calendar year and the new fiscal year (June 2005 - December 2006) at $75. Those who choose to pay through 2005 will receive another statement in January. Mark Scott (Country Companies) reported that the EBA has a non-renewable insurance policy; We will need to get another insurance company that will insure each EBA sponsored event. Donna Sweeney and Eldon LiaBraaten will meet with Mark to discuss this matter further.
Business Updates: It was reported by John Green that Country Crossroads would be closing.
