Minutes - January 18, 2007

The January meeting was held at Maple Lawn with 11 in attendance. The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m. and introductions were made. 2007 officers were announced: Lisa Reinmann, President; Donna Sweeney, Vice President; Eldon LiaBraaten, Treasurer; and Heidi Bowman, Secretary. The minutes of the last meeting were accepted for filing as presented.

Treasurer’s Report:

Treasurer’s balance as of 12/31/06 was $6,282.54. Eldon Liabraaten reported that 60 members have already paid their 2007 dues.

Committee Reports:

Lisa Reinmann stated that a chair for the 2007 Eureka Fest is still needed. Donna Sweeney will be available to assist, but she will not be able to chair the event this year.

Economic Development Council –

No Report.

City:

Jim Meares was present for the city. Due to the cold weather, there was no activity to report.

Business Spotlight:

Rick Robinson and Greg Hollenberg presented information on their business, Main Street Technologies. Open since May of 2006, Main Street Technologies offers computer service and sales. Hollenberg is the service manager, and Robinson is the sales/store manager. They are “general practitioners” of computers and service all makes and models. They are an HP business class dealer. Main Street strives to have the most affordable prices in the area for computer parts. They also offer classes and use a hands-on, common sense teaching technique. Robinson and Hollenberg enjoy the challenge of keeping up with current technology in order to better serve the community. The phone number is 467-6246.

New Business

Suggestions for New Members to Contact:

Lisa Reinmann said that the EBA still needs new Business Ambassadors. Ambassadors welcome new businesses to the Eureka community and inform them about the EBA. Please contact any board member if you are interested.

Brief Business Update:

Karen Smith of the Eureka Public Library shared that the library is offering many upcoming programs on a variety of topics. On Tuesday, January 16, a Writers’ Workshop drew around 50 people. Future programs range from scarf-making to pottery-painting. For more information, call library at 467-2922.
