Eureka Business Association
Minutes - September 20, 2007

The September meeting was held at the Eureka College Cerf Center with 16 members in attendance. The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m.   The minutes of the last meeting were accepted for filing as presented.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  

Eldon LiaBraaten was not present

 

Committee Reports: 

Eureka Reagan Fest: Donna Sweeney said a chair is still needed for next year’s Reagan Fest. The festival went smoothly.  There was less crafter participation this year, and unfortunately the Sportsman’s breakfast was not held uptown.  Jim Fyke said he would be interested in helping with the Reagan aspect of the event next year. Lisa Reinmann thanked Donna for all her hard work.

 

Taste of Eureka: Heidi Bowman said that the Taste went well.  351 tickets were sold and 24 businesses participated. Over 40 people won prizes donated by area businesses. Lisa Reinmann thanked Heidi for chairing the Taste.

 

City:

Jim Meares said the city had installed new storm sirens. The water projects are almost completed. Eureka is participating in a child safety program called Walk to School on October 3. They are also working with Goodfield and Congerville about the possibility of hiring a director of recreational activities. The Sesquicentennial is being planned for July 2-4, 2009, and the city is looking for volunteers.

 

Old Business:

Eureka Development Council: Jim Fyke said that Eureka needed a unified vision for its identityKatherine Arnold agreed to e-mail interested EBA members and set up a meeting time for discussion.

 

Brief Business Update:

Mary McSweeney said Maple Lawn would like to thank Heartland Bank for sponsoring their Health Center picnic that was held at the end of August.
