The meeting was at the Eureka College Cerf Center with 23 people in attendance. The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m. The June minutes were approved. There was no treasurer’s report.
Committee Reports:
4th of July Parade: Bryant Ruder said there were 60 entries this year. He anticipates 90 for next year, and more volunteers will be needed.
Reagan Fest: Jim Fyke said applications have been mailed and plans are moving along.
Taste of Eureka: Heidi Bowman said that so far she has had good response. Paul Wilkins from the Health Department talked about how food for the Taste can be prepared safely for the public.
City: Jim Meares said the 4th of July was a success. The new playground equipment should be finished soon. The city will be holding meetings about the pool.
Sesquicentennial Update: Laura Siscoe said tickets are on sale for the chicken dinner Friday, August 1. Plans are being made for a new car auction.
Old Business:
EBA Gift Certificates: Nancy Scott said so far 15 businesses have signed up to participate. The committee would like to have at least 25 participating businesses. The cost is $5 this year
Sesquicentennial Summer Band Concerts: Brandon Bressner said that the concerts are tentatively planned for the second Sunday in June, July, August, and September. Sponsors will be needed for the concerts. Laura Siscoe thanked everyone for embracing the idea.
Eureka College Student Promotion: Nancy Scott said that the EBA had hired Rhonda Wetzler as special projects promotion coordinator. It was decided that there was not enough time to create an EBA coupon book for the Eureka College fairs this fall, but EBA volunteers will be at the community fair to hand out maps of Eureka businesses. Postcards will also be available for students to fill out; the postcards will be sent to the students’ families to inform them of the opportunity to purchase EBA gift checks.
Brief Business Update:
Chad Martin of Goodfield State Bank said there will be an auction at the former Knap Lumber location on July 26. Lois Ferrero of Healthy Arts said they will have yoga classes this fall. Donna Sweeney of Cornerstone Family Restaurant shared that they were happy to be celebrating their first anniversary at their new location. Cynthia Baer of the Woodford County Extension said the 4-H fair is coming up and there will also be hosting “Farm Dreams” workshop on August 18. Amber Harmon of RSVP said there will be groundbreaking for the new administration building on July 23. Nancy Scott of Eureka Public Library shared some booklets on security that the library had received.
