EUREKA BUSINESS ASSOCIATION

Minutes for February 17, 2009

 

The February meeting was at the Eureka College Cerf Center with 17 people in attendance. The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m. The December minutes were approved.  President Nancy Scott reported for Treasurer Eldon LiaBraaten that the balance is $4506.87 and that dues are still coming in.

 

Committee Reports:

Brighten Our Business: Nancy Scott asked that people interested in helping with planting and delivery contact her.

Taste of Eureka: Heidi Bowman said that the Taste would be held later in the fall this year due to the Sesquicentennial.

 

City: Jim Meares shared a written report.

 

Sesquicentennial Update:

Chairperson Laura Siscoe said they are looking for a food event for Friday. Brandon Bressner provided details about the planned summer bands concerts.  Business sponsorship are needed; please contact Nancy or Brandon for more information.  Nancy Scott said the EBA plans to sponsor the merchant tent, which will be the only place for merchants to have booths at the Sesquicentennial.   The cost for the booth space for EBA members has not been determined.

 

Old Business:

EBA T-shirts: Nancy Scott said the t-shirts are red with white lettering and will be in the first of March. Please contact Eldon LiaBraaten for more information.

SCORE: This service that helps businesses with marketing and financial issues was scheduled to be at the January meeting, which was canceled due to weather. A discussion ensued and the consensus was that it would be best to reschedule SCORE to meet with the EBA over a luncheon meeting.

 

New Business: 

Eureka Community Guide: Heidi Bowman said the Woodford County Journal is in the process of creating the 2009 Eureka Community Guide. A motion was made and passed that EBA reserve the ad on the inside back page for $375.

 

Brief Business Update: 

Dr. Carrie Musselman of Preferred Care Chiropractic introduced herself and invited everyone to stop by her office.  Jeff Schumacher of Goodfield State Bank said that the Goodfield branch is hosting a Franklin Templeton workshop soon. Dave Crenshaw of Healthy Arts Physical Therapy said Liana Hilton is offering personal training and a new punch card system was recently put into place for peg Toliver’s yoga classes.
