Drivers approaching a speed radar trailer will see the posted speed limit displayed, as well as their speed as detected by the radar gun within the trailer.

The Eureka Police Department will be placing the speed radar trailer in various locations throughout the City of Eureka, depending on such variables as previous history of motor vehicle accidents, requests from the public and frequent speeding citations.

The use of a speed radar trailer aids in educating the public, especially the driver who may be unaware exactly how fast they are going. While traffic enforcement through visible patrols and traffic citations remains an important component of our overall traffic safety strategy, the use of our speed radar trailer bolsters our efforts to reduce speeding through education.

Residents who would like the speed radar trailer placed in their neighborhoods are invited to make a request by calling the department’s business line at 309-467-2113, please leave a message indicating the area within the city limits of Eureka that you would like the trailer posted.
